Below are are the main projects we support:
Old MacDonald's Farm
www.omfzambia.com
Old MacDonald's farm is situated on the outskirts of the Zambian capital Lusaka, it is the home of Don and Christine MacDonald. They provide a home and schooling for a number of boys from vulnerable backgrounds, many of whom have serious health problems and were living on the streets. They also coordinate the paying of school fees for needy children in the community. We have recently helped finance the rebuilding of dormitories as termites had destroyed the wooden framework, and installed solar panels on these new buildings to reduce ongoing energy costs.

Arise Africa
www.ariseafrica.org
Taonga School was set up by Abigail, a qualified teacher, who moved to Lusaka in August 2009, initially to help with the education of boys living at Old MacDonald's Farm. Over the years she set up a community school for children who could not otherwise afford to go to school. This was started with six children and grew to a school with five classrooms and over 150 on roll. After working with 'Arise Africa' for a number of years a Zambian headteacher was appointed for the school and Abigail returned to the UK in December 2021.
Taonga School and the 'MacDonald Brown' secondary school are now both run by Arise, providing a good quality education to over 250 children in Lusaka from the poorest backgrounds.

Zambia lacks a functional juvenile justice system. Juveniles (aged 8-19) who cannot afford lawyers or access legal aid, they are undefended, which leads to absurd charges and one-sided trials. Sara, who is licensed to practice law in Zambia works voluntarily with other local lawyers to provide legal representation to imprisoned youngsters across Zambia, hoping to ensure fair trials and end prolonged detention. She also regularly visits the prisons providing support and meeting basic needs.
